I got to hear my son's voice on the phone today without going through the correctional system. He sounds so good. He is out on probation for one year after which he will be sentenced. His sentence will depend on how well he complies with the terms of his probation that include successful completion of a drug program with urine testing etc. I hope this will be a new beginning. For those just joining us, my 25 year old BPD son was arrested for drug trafficking a month ago. I can't see him in person right now because I am working in West Africa until November. It has been a really heartwrenching time but they don't call me Faith for nothing. God will turn this around somehow. He may not have the life I would have chosen for him but I truly believe he will have a life worth living. I pray for that for all our children.

Hi Faith and thanks for sharing the news.  It is great that he will be sentenced *after* his year of probation.  It sounds like it gives him incentive and a fighting chance.   Virtual hug (click to insert in post)

This is good and hopeful news.

Was this a specific Drug Court? Georgia has been  having excellent results with Drug Courts.

What a moment to embrace  Virtual hug (click to insert in post)

Wonderful to hear an update from you during your travels to Africa, Faith. He is talking to you and the courts are being reasonable, a gesture I imagine you and your son are so grateful for.

Faith

I wish you a happy and peaceful time in Africa. Your son will find his own way - we say the term “progress isn’t linear” and it’s so true. I’ve also read here on the forum that many do not start to emotionally mature until their mid-20s. You know my son is 28 and having problems but taking a longer view he’s come so far since he was 24. I hope your son manages to turn things around for himself soon. Faith.

Hugs

Faith,  I'm so glad to hear this news. What a relief for your Momma's heart. I am so happy to hear that there is hope for his outcome. That he can affect his future for the good by his choices. And that he will receive support for the drug dependency.
I hope you can have a little more peace while you're away.
Hugs, Normlee
