I have 2 teen children with BPD

I feel like I should be cordial and open like a normal note/ email but I am feeling everything but normal. I am a parent of 2 children with BPD and each of my children suffer differently. My youngest was diagnosed about 2 years ago and has been seeing therapist. She has been hospitalized twice. My oldest has really been struggling over the last year since this emerged. I am at the point now where I feel as though he should be hospitalized but he's 19 and I have no rights. There is nothing easy about life at my house.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Greetings CO. I am also raising 2 teens, now both diagnosed with BPD. Both my children have been hospitalized, both have been to treatment programs...most recently DD17, just before she turns 18. There is lots of chaos, nothing is easy, I can't fix this, and it won't go away. With the right set of tools, some of the time, I can change how I react. Many of those tools are available on this website.

It is very difficult to parent a BPD adult "child". They have rights but a disorder that requires inpatient treatment, yet one cannot force them to go. I'd say when your child is grounded float the topic by, but that would enflame mine so you decide. This is not ideal, but the police came to my home several times and the last time they took her to the hospital. She only stayed for three days, but a dent was made, especially with outpatient treatment.

Even as I write this I am overwhelmed by heartache at what she has had to face, even though she has driven me to near suicide. I have termed this cancer of the emotional system. It is the worst kind of cancer.

Best of luck with both children. Try to be among positive people as much as you can. They normalize things and make it worthwhile waking up.
