VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

Unexpectedly, everything came together this week, and my attorney personally took the package by the courthouse on his way home today because he decided to leave the office early. It has been a wild ride.

Apparently there is already a backlog, but I should be divorced by the end of the year.

Best choice ever -- I a picked an attorney very experienced in high conflict divorce. I never had to explain things at all. It was agony, but I have some weeks of just a few minor divorce-related chores while I wait for the decree.

It does happen!

Congratulations!

I'm surprised it takes so long.  After my ex and I agreed in mediation, my L walked me across the street to the courthouse and I was officially divorced in about an hour.  (It took another few weeks to get the paperwork written up and signed.)

Thanks. It's a major metropolitan area. When this started, I had no idea how very many divorce-speciality firms there are. My attorney is the managing partner in one. So lots and lots of divorces, I guess. They don't postdate either, so we were pushing to get it in.
