She's been in a therapeutic setting for about 6 months. since new years big change in her demeanor and attitude. I'm trying to be hopeful, but have seen this so many times w/her birth mother. I think the best thing we've got going is, my state is under 'shelter in place' or stay at home. I feel this will keep hep away from her toxic friends and we'll likely not have school this year.
I glad to have her come home, but fear what may happen.   Therapist tells me 'structure' and giving her some control over said structure. I am able to mostly stay at home with my kids.

Hello BenFranklin Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I have gone back and read your previous posts.  Wow!   With your history, you certainly could write a best-seller.

So, you yourself an adoptee...you adopt a daughter...then because of her having problems in being a mother...you adopt her children.  Once again I will write...WOW!  My hat goes off to you!

It is nice to read that you were adopted into a loving family...a family that continues to support you as you struggle through the role of being a single parent.

I can well imagine how anxious you are now feeling about the return of your grandchild.  She has been away for 6 months, learning life-skill tools and reports are that she has done well.  Now she will come back home a different person from the person she was when she left.  Will she continue to be that "new person" or fall back into old BPD behaviours?

Sounds like you have been doing your homework...have been in touch with her therapist...have gotten information on how to proceed.   You have come to this caring community where you will be able to air your concerns...share your successes...all the while knowing that you are being heard and supported as you put one foot in front of the other.

For sure these are extra stressful times...for everyone...especially for those who have a struggle with life at the best of times.

Wishing you well...wishing you the confidence in knowing you are going to be doing the absolute best you can for this child...and the others who are under your wing.

Keep posting, BenFranklin! Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)

Thank you for well wishes. Brought her home day before yesterday and thus far, much like it used to be- before puberty. Much as her birth mother, she can be the sweetest thing and such a joy. This 'stay in place' thing is the best thing I can imagine. I'd rather not work and apply my self to my kids.
Off to the side, I've been here before and am kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm hopeful but cautious. bill

Hi BenFranklin  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

How's it going?  I too have back read your posts.

Keep hopeful and determined, and as Marsha Linehan says love them deeply. What kind of follow up care is your DD receiving?
