I am curious about a statement that I read over and over again- Borderline Personality is the most misunderstood mental illness of our time!

So my question why are there so many experts on this subject as I attempt to find reason:
Either the statement isn't true, or "the experts" aren't really experts:

I don't think there are that many experts. There are some, but not as many as there are on other illness. So non-experts hear a little about PD's and talk about it without really understanding it.

YOu'd kind of have to experience someone with it to really get it, unless you've studied extensively, right? And since there's no real medication to help, it's a bit frustrating.

If you've tried to find a shrink who understands what you've been through, you'd realize we need many more experts.
