Any good guide/book out there that is more practical in the sense that it not only tells you why certain things happen but also the best way to handle certain scenarios?

Hi acornplane, from the bits I've read of your previous posts, you seem like a logical person. Have you heard of Bill Eddy and/or the High Conflict Institute? From what I can recall, he's both a lawyer and LCSW, and has written a few books on dealing with who he terms "high conflict people". He has a web site so maybe try a few of his articles and blog posts, and see if it meets your requirement for practicality. If not, let us know, and I'm sure the group will have some more ideas.
Wishing you calm and peace for Christmas;
