Hi everyone!

I’m new here. I just finished reading “Stop Walking on Eggshells” and thought a good first step would be to join this group. My sister has BPD and NPD. She’s been diagnosed since we were kids, yet has refused to seek help. Her behavior, as I’m sure many of you can attest to, is selfish, unpredictable, and volatile.

One of my current concerns is that I’m pregnant with my first child. At the beginning of the pregnancy she was surprisingly supportive, but as time went on and I started to show, she has started to exhibit behavior similar to what she used to do when we were kids. Examples: putting me down, telling me horror stories of women in labor to scare me, signing up to help with the baby shower and not doing anything, and other attention seeking behavior like breaking up with her boyfriend and deciding to move across the country. With this new baby on the way and the change in our family I just want to make sure I’m ready and can set my boundaries quickly and firmly.

Thanks for listening.

welcome, Smj91  Welcome new member (click to insert in post) congratulations on your pregnancy! How exciting!

When you say across the country, does this mean she moved closer to you or further away?

The good news is that you have a heads up about her diagnosis and patterns of behavior so you can anticipate some of what's coming. You've read SWOE, which is great. Sometimes it helps to anticipate boundary-busting behaviors and practice responses, and we're always up for that! You're so smart to prepare and we can be one more tool in your toolbox.

We're glad you're here.  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)
