I thought this thread on the PSI board might be of interest here to parents who feel compelled to be their adult child's "favorite person" in order to "help" them with their symptoms: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=354544.0

In short, if your adult child is emotionally dependent on you then what is going to happen to your child when you are no longer around?
