I posted earlier in the new member forum. I've been estranged from my BPD sister for several months. I recently learned she has cancer. I sent her a card but that's all I will do. I do not want to see her again except perhaps on her deathbed and then maybe not even then.  Up until a couple of days ago my sisters and mother have been trying to get me to communicate with my BPD sister. Then something happened. My oldest sister who has been caring for my BPD sister has gone out of her favor. Oldest sister is bewildered and does not understand why this sort of thing seems to happen all the time. I referred her to the site and have told her about what I have learned. Today we found out that BPD sister has reached out to last available support : practicing alcoholic sister. She lives on the other side of the country but is willing to come and take care of her during her chemotherapy. So far BPD sister has alienated myself, my mother and my oldest sister. Alcoholic sister is the only one left in the immediate family. It's the most pathetic situation I could possibly imagine. Alcoholic sister is walking into a giant hornets nest. Oldest sister wants to intervene but I am content to watch the train wreck. The only thing that will keep alcoholic sister away is experiencing the wrath of BPD sister first hand. The fog is overwhelming. Stay tuned... .

Maybe the alcohol will make it easier for her to deal with her? Does she have to drive her to and from the chemo? I know in my own family, there was a genetic element to the BPD traits- those with BPD actually don't toy with each other, but like to toy with the more normal family members to get a reaction and cause a fight. Maybe it will be OK?

DNAGirl: "I know in my own family, there was a genetic element to the BPD traits- those with BPD actually don't toy with each other... ."

Interesting theory.  I'll have to think about that.  I think my dad was BPD, but he abused us all.  The alcohol will definitely help sister as she cannot function without it. Driving could be a problem. It's still weeks off so we shall see how it all plays out.

Thanks again for the support.  This website has been a lifesaver!  I was happy to make a donation. Take care all... .
