Have just been informed by our family therapist that my young adult daughter probably has BPD.  I have been on the biggest, longest rollercoaster ride for the last 5 years trying to manage, but can no longer handle it.  She has told me she is leaving me as I and my family are completely ridiculous.  I feel relief but also intense pain. I am so conflicted.

Thank you for sharing your story snip,

we are here to help and listen in your times of pain

how old is your daughter? Why do you think she says the family is ridiculous if you dont mind me asking? have the sessions with the family therapist seem to be helping?

please continue to share. there are very useful tools that aid in relationships with people who suffer with BPD. please check them out and ask any questions.

looking forward to hearing from you

Hello snipthechaos

Hi!

I join CryWolf welcoming you to bpdfamily snip. I'm glad you've joined us here. I want to share with you it's been the most important and best decision of my life as a parent to hang out here on the board with parents. I hope it is for you too.

It sounds like both you and your daughter want to get off the rollercoaster, you both want change and yes it's painful, you are conflicted.

Can you share with us what's been happening these last five years, what behaviours are you dealing with, is a good starting point for parents to help support you.
