Doing the right thing (click to insert in post) Hi all

Good news for a change Smiling (click to insert in post)

My dd had her baby on Saturday night, he is so lovely, I knew he would be but he is even better than I thought. She coped ok, as any other woman would. She did say she was starting to have a panic attack at the end bit but the midwives were brilliant and talked her through. He had a bit of problems breathing, I dont know but I was told that would happen because of the medications she is on. Not sure if that is the reason but anyway he is ok.

She seems ok but ultra sensitive, but normal I thin/hope.

Shes desperate to get out of the hospital, its boiling in there and other babies crying all night, so she is tired.

Cant wait to go and see them again today.

Hi Heronbird!

That is such wonderful news! Congratulations!

Congratulations to your dd and her husband on becoming parents and to you for being a grandma to a brand new beautiful bundle of life!

She seems ok but ultra sensitive, but normal I thin/hope.

I'd think it is normal - at least being hormonal AND therefore ultra sensitive goes with the territory of having given birth... .

He was 7Lb 6oz. Do you do Lbs? I think its 3.75 Kg if you do Kgs.

Her labour seemed to go on for 25 hours haha, I never counted mine Smiling (click to insert in post) She was begging for an epidural and I thought the baby was nearly coming by the way she was screaming in pain but she still had about 12 hours to go haha. She found it very painful and she didnt know just how bad it was going to be. I think she was surprised and she thought she was the only person who felt such pain, she said no one has this pain mine is worse  Laugh out loud (click to insert in post)

He was born 1st June.

She had a MH assessment yesterday and they gave her the all clear and her and dh went home, my son picked them up and dds dh said he can only pick them up if he drives carefully haha so sweet.

Actually, its so lovely to see them together with the baby, they are just so in love with him, they were arguing over him dh wanted a cuddle and dd said she wanted a cuddle but dh wouldnt give him to her, he said you get him all night long, so funny .

dh just has a week off work for now so he should get lots of cuddles.

I love him so much and so do we all, he has two uncles and an aunty who all love him and a great granma too who also loves him, wow 4 generations there.

Its all so strange for now getting used to it.

What a nice story compared to only 18 months ago when I was convinced I was going to be at my daughters funeral. I also kept questioning if I should keep saving her life and Id wonder what quality of life she had ahead of her.

Well, long may it last.

Thanks for all your lovely messages

Heronbird,

Congratulations!   I am glad that baby is healthy and all is well.  Didn't your dd get an epidural?  I was kind of fortunate in a way.  My dd did not get to experience the labor pains, but the down side was that she needed an emergency c-section.  The baby was in distress.  That was the scary part.  He was three weeks early.  He was in respiratory distress, but they were not too panicked.  He was flighted to a nicu unit.  Our local hospital did not have a nicu unit.  He was on IV for about a week.  His lungs were not quite fully developed.  I am not sure if that was due to her heavy smoking or the drug use.

I always said that I would not want to be around my dd when she was in labor.  She scratches her finger and wants to go to ER.  She has a very low tolerance for pain.

Funny, what your dd said about her labor pain being the worst!  That is what I thought the first time.  I was not prepared for the intensity of the pain.  I remember saying to my mom, "How did you do this 5 times?"

I am glad that all is going well.  What did they name your grandson?  I love being a grandma. This will probably only be my only one.  Trust me, I am fine with that!  I would want more, if my kids were financially and mentally stable.  However, I will accept what ever the good Lord gives me.

She did have an epidural but you have to be 4 cm dilated to be able to have that and she wasnt even 1 when she asked for it haha

Im feeling really upset though, I asked her if I could pop over for a short while and she said he would be asleep so whats the point, then when I was on my way home from shop she texted me a beautiful photo of him and it made me cry cos I want to see them, I was just cycling past her house and I couldnt go in

Is that normal? and then I thought maybe she will ask next week when dh is back at work, I dont work well like that, only asking me when she is lonely, thats not fair. I feel like its using me a bit. I guess thats what Im here for. I just wanted to see him quickly.

She was funny when she was at the hospital and believe me, Im not going to want to be going round there all the time. Im working but today was a good opportunity as I was not.

I thought she would want me there just at the beginning for a couple of weeks, even if it was only to clean the kitchen or something.

But I cant tell her can I, thats why I knew it would help to tell you  :'(

Yes I think I am going today to see them.

Funny, the hospital said the baby needs to have a BCG injection before he leaves. He had already had quite a few needles for blood tests and that upset my dd.

Dd refused the injection for him, said hes been through enough. She said for the first time she can understand how upsetting it must have been for me to see her arms when she used to cut them

It really upset her to see her baby in pain.
