The subject line says it all.

On the up side, I'm finding this very annoying instead of hurtful.

The downside:  once again, I feel sucked in to his darkness and emotionally zapped.

I don't want to feel like this but I want to give a chance to the r/s and see if there is anything left.  We both have kids at home and so don't spend a lot of physical time together.

Getting back together feels a little like an anesthetic to dealing with the pain of his abrupt abandonment.  I don't feel gutted and feel more able to analyze from this proximity.

Any advice?

Maybe you should give us more information about what's going on at the moment.  What self-absorp behaviour is going on with him this time?
