I am intrigued how someone who has and is studying psychology seems to have complete lack of insight into her own behavior. She is undiagnosed but displays BPD traits as clear as daylight. S gets upset at the least apparent provocation and I know immediately by her body language that I've said something to trigger her off. I'll even use words like "black and white thinking ". She will quote me theory from books as to what I'm really meaning when I  say something that upsets her and it's almost impossible to extricate myself from the lecture she gives. I keep saying to myself it's a brain abnormality.  Its truly incredible that she can also describe another person's behaviour, very similar to her behavior yet she doesn't see it in herself. What is that?

It is mind boggling isn't it?

What is that?
A defense.  pwBPD have a lot of shame that affects how well they can see their self and their feelings surrounding their more negative feelings and behaviors.

think of how hard it is sometimes to see something in yourself, admit it and change it.  pwBPD do not have the ability to regulation their emotions (they have poor executive function).
