DD had her ALJ hearing (social security appeal judge) on Oct 28th. He has asked for additional hearing for medical expert testimony on Dec 4th. to clarify. Hopeful this is a good thing. He is at least reading her file! And since he asked DD's lawyer for denial by Federal Courts earlier this year, will keep praying for him to determine her disability date as starting with previous filing Jan 2009.

Hi qcarolr-

This really does sound like it is moving in the right direction. If the start date is determined to be 2009, does this mean she will be paid retroactively? That would be fantastic! Keeping my hopes UP for all of you!

Benefits will be paid, if application approved, to dated of application - ie. date disabiltiy deemed to have begun.

THe lawyer gets 25% - and she is earning this. The county gets reimbursed for $175/mo since Mar 2009. Past due bills get paid - in collections for medical and rent about $3000. Technically Dh and I get repaid for our many 'loans' for her benefit during this time. We are not attached to getting this. There will be a representative payee - most likely her probation coordinator - who will manage this for DD.

But as lawyer wrote in email to me - don't count the chickens before they hatch.

DD ill today. I dropped her at the doctor appt and then went to get gd at school. Gd went with me to give D a ride back to her motel -- it went good. First time gd and DD together since 9/10/13. So sad DD ill -- it is related to some of her previous choices and may be one more thing she deals with for her lifetime. Can only love her with non-judgement and compassion.

Other hard part - she is out of money and food stamps as of today. 3 weeks before Dec benefits. how will she eat, and not bump into her exbf at free feeds for homeless. We are maxed out paying her rent right now. So do I stay out of this? She needs to live closer to cheaper grocery store and her probation offices. So hard to keep detaching, letting go, accepting... .
