I'm shamelessly stealing mama's idea to start a thread on books that are helpful ... .maybe there is a better place to put this?

It started with my slightly off topic post about the book "My Fluorescent God" by Joe Guppy, about his psychotic break in his 20's. It was an interesting read on it's own, but of particular interest because he became a mental health professional years later. To write the book he used the psych notes from his time in hospital, his own journal entries, and taped interviews he did after his recovery. At the end of the book he also includes transcripts of discussions with mental health professionals about their opinions about treatments and what helped or didn't help during his experience. He talks about his parents and his attempts at going home at various points of his treatment as well.

It's a really interesting look at the client side experience of mental health care.

Wondering if others have books to add to a list of books they've found insightful, whether they are directly BPD not?

My favorite books have been "What Works For Bipolar Kids" and also the "Mindsight" and related books and videos by Dr. Dan Segal.  I have enjoyed watching Marsha Lineman talk about her experiences as a patient. It does help me have hope and generate compassion. I need positives, thank you for posting this idea!  www.nytimes.com/video/health/100000000877082/the-power-of-rescuing-others.html

The stop walking on eggshells books were a great start for us - bearing in mind we had never heard of BPD.
