Hi. Im glad to have found this site and I look forward to having a place to vent and get some ideas for getting through life.

My nephew has been diagnosed with BPD and APD. He was basically raised by my mother as my sister couldn't handle him, and therefore he is more like a brother to me.

Of course there are years of situations I could share, but the bottom line is that I am trying so hard to set boundaries and not enable him (after years of being what I thought was supportive... only to be lashed out at over and over)  However, my mother, the putty in his hands, guilts me when I take a stand.  I feel so trapped

Hi Smittyshurtn,

Welcome

I'm glad you are here seeking support to help deal in more positive ways with your nephew-brother. How old is he, and what are your biggest struggles? Has the APD contributed to criminal behaviors that have gotten him into trouble?
