I am looking for group homes in VA for my 16yo dd that specialize in DBT therapy.  Internet searches are exhausting and not very productive.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello nowheretoturn,

Welcome to the Parenting Board.

It is exhausting... .the search for long term inpatient care for our kids... .

What exactly are you looking for in a "group home"?  Is it therapeutic boarding school with DBT/Residential Treatment with DBT?

While it would be nice to find a local facility for our kids, that doesn't usually happen.  Some states are very lacking.

I live in Texas and sent my d to an RTC in Utah... .it was a pain in the behind to have to travel there every 3 months for family weekends and facilitate the off campus visits/home visits.  When push comes to shove, our first priority is to find the best facility to meet our kids needs... .it may or may not be conveniently located.

Has your d been in out patient DBT?  Does it seem to help her?

Hey there!

Don't know about group homes, but my son is being seen over at Rathbone & Associates in Bethesda and they do DBT and may be able to steer you in the right direction!
