I live with my daughter 29 and granddaughter 3. The last 3 yrs have been draining. My daughter seems to do better and then goes back to her pattern. I am tired. I promised my granddaughter that I would always be in her life and keep her safe. I am committed to stepping in when my daughter is not stepping up. She currently has a 3rd CPS investigation on her. I pray she understands her consequences of losing her daughter this time. She has been in outpatient for two weeks. I have learned not to get my hopes up. My focus is the emotional and mental state of my granddaughter. One day at a time.

Hello and welcome to the family!  I'm so sorry you're in this position and there's not a lot of easy answers here.

I do have a question though- is it your house or your daughter's?  I ask because the CPS investigation should have been on both of you, shouldn't it?  Or were they only focusing on your daughter?

I ask because it might be a good time to try to get legal custody before the grandkid is removed...but that would mean having your daughter leave the home (at least temporarily) so you could create a better environment.
