I found a local codependent anonymous meeting and was thinking about going. Have any of you gone? What was it like?

Hey lala! I have been looking and looking for one myself. I thought I found one and sat in the parking lot-when I mustered up the strength to go in, I found it no longer took place there! I am very interested in finding a new one though.
It just seems to me like I am working on myself so much, and that  is good. I am also working on this r/s but I feel very often as though I am "teaching" my bf how to behave properly. It is exhausting. I haven't decided to detach either, but it certainly seems as though I am going in that direction. The rages, the gaslighting, -all of it just blows the mind.

Hey lalathegreat - never been but it's something I've really wanted / needed to do.

To echo allienoah's observation, I've found that the locations and number of meetings has been declining in my area. I read here about how it's a good idea to reach out to the contact ahead of time to verify the time and place of the meetings:
www.coda.org/index.cfm/your-first-meeting/
Excerpt
After finding a meeting from the CoDA Meeting Locator, it is suggested you call the contact person to confirm the meeting date, time, and location.

I know that other members have told me they personally found it to be extremely helpful and critical to their recovery, and I've also had therapists strongly recommend it, so I would say it's certainly worthwhile to at least give it a try.

Hey Lala, I have, though it was many years ago.  I found the Coda meetings to be helpful.  Everyone has an opportunity to share, though there's no requirement to share anything unless you feel like it.  As I recall, there were some good handouts.  IMO, Definitely worth a try.  LJ

I went to CODA meetings for about a year. Was helpful in discovering patterns that I fall in to. Was able to share when I needed to. Based along the same type of structure as AAA with steps and all. Was a supportive environment.
