Well, two days ago I was notified that I have no money coming in. At all. My lawyer is out of the country but another with the same firm filed an emergency petition to get me interim support, so that's good.
However, the court is so backed up here that it will be March or April before it's filed.
And I haven't been reimbursed the $7000 in legal fees. I am in deep trouble financially.
Thank God for my family, friends, acquaintances, and this forum.
Merry Christmas!    Happy Holidays!

I don't understand how an emergency petition will take months to get you money... .although I completely believe it is possible (given what I unfortunately know about the legal system).

Do you have a car that is yours?  Can you uber (or things like that)?

Are the utilities on at your property (and will they stay on)... .  Are you still on the property?

Hang in there...

 Hi FF,
Yes, I have a car. And I have lots and lots of years of experience editing, so I'm looking for online work, and I'm making my online presence more noticeable by updating my website and such.
What I was told by the lawyer who stepped in for mine is that there is only family court judge in my county, and everything backs up, even emergency petitions. She recommended aggressive litigation at this point. I don't think what just happened to me is even legal, but I'm not sure.
I don't know if the house expenses will be maintained. The firm that handles those types of things has been forbidden to talk to me.
I have incredible family and friends, and I have lots of work experience, and I also have a lot of experience living on next to nothing. The other day was hard on me because the action to completely cut me off feels hateful and personal. Today I'm completely focused on getting myself set to work by updating my resume, improving my online presence, and all the other stuff that needs to be done to make myself employable.
Merry Christmas, FF! And how are you? I haven't been on the forum for a while as I've been pretty wrapped up in trying to take care of the finances.

When your friends and family help out, ponder having the big amounts loaned to you, not gifted.  Yes, I know Dave Ramsey the radio guy says not to expect repayment for family loans but I have a legal reason for having the $$$ identified as loans, at least on paper.  What if you need to prove any aid you get has to be repaid?  If it's a gift then the other side will claim there's no need to seek reimbursement.  Does that make sense?

Yes! That makes a great deal of sense.
And Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday, FD!

What are your legal rights and the paperwork to support you being at your current location?
