Welcome new member (click to insert in post) I'm just wondering what exacly is BPD?  Where did it come from?  Is it an illness that is passed from a distant relative,or another "form" of a mental illness that is passed down,or simply caused by a traumatic event in a persons life?  I,as a mother, recall some "eccentricities" i had as a child... .did i pass this on to my daughter?  I know there is no going back and we are both dealing with this best we can, (she sees a therapist, and I've aquired coping skills)
So I'm just mainly curious as to what triggered this disorder... .

Thankyou for your feedback and a happy blessed New Year to you all!

Hi Pinacolada1,

You ask questions many parents have asked in their quest for more information about BPD.

Here is a great thread on the subject that you may find helpful.

Is this all my fault? Did I cause this?

I know there is no going back and we are both dealing with this best we can, (she sees a therapist, and I've aquired coping skills)

It's great your daughter is seeing a therapist. In another post from you a few months ago you mentioned that you don't have any support. Have you looked into therapy for yourself? Seeing a therapist with experience with BPD has been a lifesaver for me. Coming here and sharing with other parents is another form of support for me, one that I wish I'd found years ago. Experts agree, a strong support system is critical and we can provide that.

Please share more, as you are comfortable, and we can go from there. What are your daughter's most challenging behaviors and how do you cope with them?

I look forward to hearing more about how we can support you.
