Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

I'm in the middle of a divorce in a small city and need to find an attorney who specializes in BP, so I can protect my daughters from their abusive mother.  Please help!

Hi LMFO!

I think as a general statement, you want a lawyer is is adept at high conflict divorces and knows not to escalate tensions.  There is a book (see below) and a consultant that you can hire who specializes in BPD and will consult with your local lawyer. He is a lawyer and therapist.  We have no connection or interests in this resource - we just have a lot of positive feedback from members who have bought the book or hired Bill. I think it would also help to work with members here.

So, hopefully that is a good starting place. Can you share a bit about your story and what is happening in the divorce?
