Hello Malak
I am glad you found us. You are among friends who know what it is like to have children with BPD. What is going on with your child? How can we help?
Hugs

Hi Malak, nice to meet you.

I hope you don’t mind my asking but how old is your child? And is she getting therapy? Generally speaking the younger you can get a child with BPD into therapy the more successful the treatment is likely to be. I could be wrong but afaik if the child is young enough it might even be possible to prevent BPD all together with the right treatment. And even if it’s too late to prevent it entirely, everything about her disorder (including her behavior and even how she feels) can improve given enough time and therapy. Do you know if you have any options for therapy in your area? If you could get something specific for BPD (or specifically children with BPD) that would be ideal. If therapy isn’t an option you might also be able to seek counseling for yourself on how to raise a child with BPD (I was once told that talking to such a child about emotions, asking her to talk about her emotions and validating her emotions are among most important parts).

Also, if you haven’t already, it might be a good idea to get confirmation from a professional that what she has is indeed BPD because a lot of disorders have a lot of things in common with BPD and thus people with other disorders often get misdiagnosed as having BPD and vise versa.

Other than that… how are you doing? How have you been holding up and how have you been able to cope with the situation? Being a single mother can be extremely difficult even with healthy children, so I can only imagine what it must be like with a child with BPD. Do you have any friends or relatives whom you can talk to about this? Or for emotional support in general? Whether you do or not you can also talk about it here if you want and we’ll try to be as supportive as we can.

Hi Malak,
Im sorry about what you are going through. I was a single mom with 2 children, only one had BPD. It was a very trying time to say the least. Do you have friends or family that could give you a break? even if just a few
hours. I would have loved that. How old is your child?
