Hello, I'm new here. my son-in-law was diagnosed with BPD and from what I read on the home screen about characteristics of a person with BPD, my daughter might be also. I have encouraged my adult daughter, [who is married with 2 children], to seek counseling for herself and she told me her husband doesn't have the money for it and she hung up on me and refused to let me babysit my grand children. She hasn't called me in several days, [before it was at least 4-5 times a day she called with up and down mood swings]. three weeks ago, she said she wanted to kill herself and scared her sister, my husband, and myself. When we try to help her she has every reason in the book for not listening to any of us. i'm looking for a healthy way to have a relationship with her and not be pulled into her chaos.

Hi Blaire
Welcome to the group. You have come to the right place for information and support as you work to improve your relationship with your son in law and daughter. The first step toward a more healthy relationship is to invest in your own self care. That way you will be in a better position to help your loved ones. What are doing or could be doing to make yourself as strong and healthy as possible?
