Hello,  I’m new. Feeling scared and overwhelmed. My daughter has severe anxiety , depression and some psychosis. She attempted suicide last week.

Trying to navigate her new life and support her but need support from others who live with an adult child challenged like this. She has no job and mostly sleeps. She is mixing in alcohol and other poor habits. Feeling super overwhelmed. How do I protect her from herself?

Hi, I can totally relate to how you are feeling as I’m going through the same. My daughters mental health issues came to light last year with self harming and overdoses. She wouldn’t talk to us or allow us to be involved with her mental health team. I’m a nurse and many a time I would find her in Resus at the hospital I work in. Things got much worse in April she took another overdose and jumped off a bridge, again I was at work and had to rush to resus. She ended up on the ICU I work in for over two weeks. Lots of traumatic injuries including a brain injury. She’s doing ok but I dread her future as both my husband and I fear she will do something again. At the moment she is safe, she’s only just started mobilising and is in a hospital bed downstairs. I’ve removed anything that could harm her. For the last year my anxiety has been through the roof, constant fear. My daughter is exactly the same sleeping a lot, no motivation. She’s a third year student nurse but I fear she will never get to complete her studies, not with her BPD and brain injury. If you want to talk, message me, rant I’m here (I know I could do with someone) x
