Hello all, it's my first post, so I probably need a little time to get acclimated.

I have BPD. I lived the chaotic, miserable existence of a BPD sufferer for most of my life. I was finally diagnose about 5 years ago and things are better...EXCEPT...

Now, my 20 year old son has all the signs of BPD.  He is also at the high end of the ASD spectrum, so that adds a whole different element to the already complex diagnoses he suffers from.

The small southern community where we're from is just not the place for severe mental illness. The general consensus for treatment by the locals is to smile and pray.  The resources are limited and antiquated.

Soo, I am searching, nationally, for a evidence-based, successful program for BPD.  And it is as elusive as a Unicorn...maybe even non-existent.  Well, that's not right.  Let me correct myself. Private, self-pay, successful programs (not associated with slimy rehab facilities) are out there! But they only treat the wealthy. My son deserves the very best treatment available - but he is not allowed to receive it due to finances.

We've tried the small-town CBT and found that one must have, at least, some self-awareness to benefit, which he does not possess. We've paid thousands to send him to facility after facility in the south - none of which categorize mental health as the main issue to treat. So instead of self-awareness, he learned about alcohol and drugs at those places...

I want to get him treatment in Boston at a world renowned facility that specializes in BPD...anyone have 120k I can borrow?

Tomorrow is another day...thanks for having me!

Are you talking about McLean hospital?  I heard it was very expensive.  Good luck in finding the appropriate care for your son.   Best of luck.

Hi Peppery  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I join mggt welcome. Glad things are better for you personally, that's good to hear! It sounds like you were diagnosed around the time my 32yr daughter,  2015. She continues to make great strides healing.

Yes, your son deserves the very best. Virtual hug (click to insert in post) I'm wondering what treatment your son has been recommended? DBT? I'm in the UK. Covid has exponentially moved life online, and that may work for some. Is your son in crisis?

I'm glad you've reached out for support and joined us.
