Hello,
My 21 yr old daughter has been recently diagnosed with BpD.
Over the last 2-3 weeks I have been reading and learning as much as I can.. I would have to say I am more than overwhelmed.. and feeling a great deal of emotion myself..
after many years of battles at home, school and her relationships .. the diagnosis brings some answers.. but also so many more questions.. and fears.. and as a parent self doubt.. the more I read I believe her therapist is correct.. however he does not treat this disorder so now I am trying to find a thereapist and hopefully help transition my daughter to a new setting.. the current therapist was someone she felt good with..
in the mean time I can see she is making what I would consider to be a bad and dangerous choice.. yesterday she announced she is taking a trip to New York with a “sugar daddy “ all expenses paid.. this is coming on the heels of a very hard break up with a boyfriend.. she is 21.. so I feel I have very little recourse and I am scared to death for her.. I cannot talk reasonably with her about the down side of this situation .. she does not see it. Any advice would be helpful!

Welcome.  The first question I had is if your daughter wants therapy/ is compliant to the idea? Does your daughter live with you? Please write back as you are able.

I first have to apologize.. since my first post in December regarding just diagnosed daughter.. I was so caught up in her planned trip to New York with an unknown male as well as family coming in .. all the other stuff to contend with coming up to Xmas.. I could not remember my log on.. as well as most of my searching on phone.. convenient but not always the easiest device to manipulate.. I lost my log on and finally was able to reset it in the last few days.. I was aware that you had replied to post it has taken a few days for me yo navigate and find the original.. . so hoping you understand I did not intentionally ignore your response.. ugh story of my life.. better late than never..

In answer to your previous reply..yes daughter currently lives with me and step father..
Daughter is currently in therapy since summer/fall of last year.. it is therapist who has diagnosed.. after learning/reading I believe he is correct.. he has suggested she should move to a new therapist as he feels in his current practice he is not able to treat her properly.. that has been a stumbling block, so far he is still seeing her.
Had a blow up last night.. something I have been trying to avoid.. and at the moment I am currently top ten enemy of the state..

Hi,
Just checking in.  No need to ever apologize for not being able to write back - you write when you can.  Life happens , and with us , it happens with a vengeance sometimes. Glad your is ( or was ) going to therapy.  That is huge.  I am sorry about the blow up, but unfortunately those could happen several times a day sometimes.  If at all possible, try not to take it too personally.
