 Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Hello out there… I just came here to read information on escaping drama triangles & what my role is, & have found myself here - wondering if anyone else can relate?

My daughter was diagnosed with BPD when she was 19 (up until then we were working under the social anxiety & depression diagnosis she received when she was 13-14)… she’s now 23 and has a daughter of her own - that chapter was not without exceptional trauma for everyone involved… really complicated & messy. My beautiful granddaughter is almost 3 now & lives with her mum about 60%. I am an only child, both of my parents have passed away & my daughter has no relationship or contact with her bio dad or step dad’s families. She’s also an only child, so… it’s just us three girls.

I don’t even know what else to say, just curious if anyone out there finds that relatable?

Hi Pythagoras, welcome to the group  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

I get why you chose your name  Laugh out loud (click to insert in post) feeling a lot of triangles lately?

She’s also an only child, so… it’s just us three girls.

I don’t even know what else to say, just curious if anyone out there finds that relatable?

There are many members here who have adult children with BPD who have their own children, and are navigating that parent/grandparent dynamic. "Complicated and messy" will be very relatable. Relationships with pwBPD are often not straighforward and not simple, and when they manage access to grandchildren, it can be difficult.

How has grandparenting gone? Is your D pretty open to you spending time with your GD? Or is there conflict there?

And how does the drama triangle typically show up for you and your D?

Keep us in the loop with how you and your family are doing;
