How many of you know if your SO experienced childhood sexual abuse?
Mine did. Doesn't mention it at all though.

Mine did. I am certain it is a cause of his instinct that anyone who wants to get close to him is going to harm him or has a hidden agenda.

Mine was sexually abused by her father and has three years missing from her childhood memory. Her sister was the one that told me.

Mine had sexual abuse from 18 months - 1st grade almost daily and in every way imaginable from an older boy her mom babysat for - I have a feeling that something more happened. I did not find out about any of this until she had a breakdown 15 years into our marriage. She has also told me I only know 1/10th of what her chidhood was like - and what I know is bad enough. :'(

mine didn't but I did. He expresses rage on the one had about this happening 'to me' and on the other is completely insensitive about the emotional damage. I have been told however that his sisters allege sexual abuse from their dad but he says he doesn't beleive it.

Yes she did. Late adolesence, early teens.
She somehow still craved his approval until he died.
Tragic how illness breeds illness.
What can break such chains?

Sexual abuse is thought to be a very common factor in the development of personality disorders. In the case of my BPD-x2b, it was impossible to determine whether she was abused, since she told so many lies about her abusive childhood that the truth couldn't be reliably distinguished from all the lies.

Thanks for all the comments/feedback. Since most confirm SA is a major contributor, do you ever wonder how some survivors manage not to have BPD and actually seek therapy when they cannot get past such a horrible event?

My pwBPD told me a couple of months ago that he was abused by a teenage female babysitter at a very young age. As in under 4 or 5. He told me the story and said he didn't consider it sexual abuse or molestation. Very disturbing.
