I just wanted to let everyone know that I ordered a 6 CD set on Self Compassion by Kristin Neff PHD and received it about a week ago.  I don't feel that I am on the low end of self compassion, yet I also feel that all of us here cannot get too much self compassion!  I've listened to all six CD's and I must say that it is well written and leaves me feeling soothed and renewed.  I have heard that the way out of guilt and shame for our loved ones with BPD is through self compassion.  I am hoping that my dd25 may listen to them, and she has expressed some interest . . . .  In the meantime, I have found these CD's very uplifting.  Just wanted to pass along the info . . .

Btw, each cd has a different topic:  What is Self-Compassion, Self-Kindness, Mindful Self-Compassion, Self-Compassion and Interconnectedness, Working with Difficult Emotions, and Embracing Your Life.   I've gotten a lot out of this set of cd's and highly recommend them - a couple of the cd's have really spoken to me and I find myself listening to them over and over again.

Doing the right thing (click to insert in post) Thank you for sharing this.

It looks like interesting and helpful material.

Let us know what happens with your dd, if she likes it and if it helps her.

Thanks Someday,

I did a quick look at Kristin's work and it looks good: Kristin Neff's site. There are a couple of videos and some exercises etc there for us to explore.

Compassion for ourselves and compassion for all others are integral to a life worth living, I believe.

I am glad you have found the cd's and now we have the site. I am looking forward to learning more  Smiling (click to insert in post)

sending you some love to take with your self compassion,

Vivek

A quick update on the cd's;  I loaned them out to two friends and both have commented on how they felt that they got a lot out of listening to them.  As for my daughter mentioning that she might want to listen to them, she has now said that she doesn't want to.  My dd25 and I are planing on taking a trip together and when we do I will put one of the cd's for her to listen to . . nothing like being a captive audience  ;  ))

good luck Someday

My dd sounds like your daughter is like mine, except she wouldn't get in the care with me now I think... .

Vivek ananda, loved your reply!   Actually my daughter would probably jump out of the car while driving down the highway - and, no, I am not joking!  She jumped out as we were heading to a facility in Arizona. . . maybe it's not such a good idea to put it in while we are driving . . !

One of the tings I found hardest was to know when the 'right time' was. I was usually too concerned with what I wanted to achieve and wasn't able to listen so well. I have learnt to better 'let go of my ego' now, but it is still my personal challenge.

It would have to be the right time, or you will make things worse, ok? If it's not the right time, let it go ... . you will have other and different opportunities but if you stuff it up, you lost the opportunity.

make sense?
