VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

If she has already been to the police once. The kids are on their first sleepover since divorce process  started and I fear she may call them if no witness... . Should I sleep at a friends house or go home and carry a recorder?

Sorry that fewer are online during the weekends.  At the least, have a digital recorder going.  My first recorder in 2005 only recorded for about 3 hours before filling up and needing to be downloaded.  During the divorce I bought spares, they were newer and stored at least twice as long.  Today you can buy some that can record for so many hours they may as well be rated in days.  Some can record more than 1000 hours, battery life might be the bigger concern.

A recorder is good not just to catch your spouse's poor behaviors but also to prove you didn't do anything wrong in case she trumps up false DV allegations to frame you to the police and put you at a disadvantage custody-wise in family court.

Nothing wrong if you want to spend the night with friends or family while the kids are away on sleepovers.

Also okay (if affordable) to use the opportunity to that town 2 hours away with the cool thing to see and have your own little weekend getaway.
