Quiet Desperation

Hello,
I've been reading the posts on this site and Thank God I found it!
I'm 14 years into a completely unhealthy, dysfunctional marriage that is taking it's toll on every aspect of my life.
We have 2 boys - 9 and 13 - which is the only reason that I've stayed this long. As with most of you my spouse (wife) is extremely difficult to deal with.
I noticed her behavior no long after we started dating and was thinking about getting out of the relationship but then she was pregnant so I decided to try and stick it out for the sake of our child. After 2 years of her asking I decided to get married (thinking if it really got bad I was just separate - yeah right!). Then came the second child and more of the insane episodes and control issues. Anytime I mention going out to see some friends and play a friendly game of cards, golf, go to see my mom (who she despises) or anything that does not involve her there is a price to pay. The screaming and then telling my how selfish I am - the games she plays.
Anyway - now that she's just got home I'll write more later.

Hello and welcome!
14 years is a long time. Good thing you found this site. I am sure you will find lots of good articles and information here + a great discussion forum where you can learn so much.
You situation sounds very much like the one I was in for over 20 years.
