Hi - may 21 year old son has been diagnosed with BPD.  He is also depressed.  He also have Juvenile diabetes which he does not care to look after.  He does not want to help himself by learning about it.  Has many times gone to emergency departments - I refuse to bring him again.  We are in the health care system with a psychiatrist and awaiting some treatments and seeing a social worker on Monday.

He lives with his father but is always texting me he wants to die and wants to go to the ER which we have done too many times and I refuse to do it any longer.

How do I cope with this?

Hello rushinmom,

So very glad  you are here and telling us a little about your life and your son with BPD.

It is so very frustrating and painful to watch our children in pain and even more frustrating that they don't care to do anything about it.

I hope that the upcoming appointments are the beginning of a new and more positive way of life for your son.  Do you believe he will be an active participant in his therapy?

What can we do to help you learn to better cope?

The site has a list of tools and lessons posted to the right of the screen.  A good first step might be to define the goals and objectives you want to achieve from your membership here.
