My 19yo daughter has struggled with BPD traits for years. Right now we're in crisis mode. She's addicted to opiates and I don't know how or where to start in getting help for her. Residential treatment is so wildly expensive. I'm a single mom of four, she's the eldest. I feel lost, alone, hopeless. This has affected my family for so long and I'm just tired. I don't know anyone else with these issues and I'm dying to hear from people who get it or may have ideas. Thank you.

I will try that. I didn't know that was an option until last night after scouring the forums. Thank you!

I am sorry for the pain and worry your daughter is putting you through.  I too have a daughter with BPD, although thankfully we haven't dealt with drugs.  Has she indicated she wants help for her drug addiction etc?  I think contacting social services would be great.  I am wondering about narcotics anonymous---maybe they can lead you to resources.  You might also contact NAMI and see what mental health services you might be able to tap into.  Please remember you are not alone, many of us have been in your shoes and want to help and support you.

My BPD d is also an addict but has refused help.  When I was researching low or no-cost treatment, I came across The National Alcohol and Substance Abuse Information Center (NASAIC).  I think they will guide you through the process of finding a low cost drug rehab program. Also, most insurance companies will pay a portion.  Have you tried calling them directly?  I hope you find the help you need.
