Hello BPDMomandHusband,
Can you tell us a bit more about what's going on for you. Having a family member or SO threaten suicide can feel really scary and at times quite isolating. I found it hard to talk about.
My dBPDh of nearly 10 years has threatened and carried through many suicide threats over the last few years. His first OD was when he was 14. His MO was to impulsively overdose on very large amounts of prescribed medications. He has made only one planned attempt, I found him by accident when I went back for my purse and called a ambulance. ( this for me was by far the scariest episode ) He has been in intensive care many times and detained under the Mental Health Act because of his risk to self.
It took a long while for his community care team to manage his medication better so that he never has large amounts in the house anymore and this has really helped.
It's worth saying he has been stable for a while now. It has been about six months since his last attempt.
I figure you're asking for a reason and you will find many members on here have SO's who have both threatened and attempted suicide. Here is a link that looks at Safety First around any issues of suicide
