As parents we deal down love our BPD children, even if we think we don't. What's the best way to deal with the apologies that sometimes come after an explosion? If my daughter apologizes she then acts as it nothing is wrong but everyone around her is still broken inside.

She acts as if the apology cancels everything and maybe it does to her, but not to others.

It's good that she apologizes.

My daughter used to do the same, asking "What's wrong?" after her apology as she expected me to be ok afterwards.

I would simply respond "I know you apologized and it's good that you took responsibility. I will be fine, I just need some time."

Then I would practice the coping skills and self care that I learned alongside her in therapy and the ones I learned here from the Tools and Lessons in the right margin.  ------>

Hi,

No answers sadly, just letting you know your not alone! This is VERY hard for us also, especially since our apologies are NEVER accepted or any thing we do wrong ever forgotten.

Wow, ain't that the truth! And how about, even the things that we don't do wrong are seen as wrong and never forgotten. Sheesh. What a damn nightmare.
