Going to court on Monday

Hello everyone

Court date Monday to see what the judge decides about the protection order on my exgfs bf.

I don't have an attorney and wondering if I should bring up my son's mothers text she sent me last weekend stating she was going to a mental hospital and handing my son into Social Services.

I'm nervous and just want my son safe, she hasn't text me since Wednesday so I don't know what she's doing or scheming.

Her bf has had extensive experience with courts and been in a lot of legal trouble so he may be scheming too.

My exgf said this wasn't a big deal and she didn't get beat up, I'm thinking she is a drama queen but she did call 911, her bf spent 48 hours in jail and she ended up in the ER.

I think the judge will view this as instability or a danger to my son's well being, that's my hope anyway.

Does anyone have any advice?

Do you have a copy of the police report? Definitely get that.

Was your son there when the abuse happened?

My exgf said he wasn't there when it happend but she don't tell the truth, she said he was staying with her bfs family which I was never informed of and it was over a state line. I asked the police for a report and they said the judge had all of that before he made his determination the day I filed the po.

Make a list of all the incidents that have concerned you, and print all emails or texts that support each incident of concern. Texts may require special software to capture/print, or just take a photo of t he text message from another phone.

Be very objective in describing each incident -minimize your emotion, don't exaggerate or inject drama.

In describing your concern, keep the focus on the effect on your son.
