Have you all seen your kids cycle in and out of symptoms?

Last year was tough for my 13 friend/ex-stepdaughter with what seemed like BPD symptoms (cutting, suicidality, impulsiveness, anger-- also BPD runs in the family), but this year she seems much better.

With children, they have developmental periods, and in the teenage years they are developing emotional maturity in the frontal lobe. So could this be linked to that ? Does she seam more mature ? Where there other big changes/influences in her life from last year to this ?

PTSD is well know to have cycles (and is often co morbid with BPD). They tend to be the same length, but never longer than 10 years. But I have never read that BPD cycles, possibly someone else has seen research on this. But I hope this helps. Doing the right thing (click to insert in post)

My daughter has been cycling for years. She was first hospitalized at 14, diagnosed with BPD at almost 18. In the past year is was good for 6 weeks, then out of control for 4 or 5 days. She's been treated with Lamictal most of the time, but hasn't ever been consistently compliant. Recently she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is being treated with Lithium and Lamictal. Almost immediately, a different person. Praying that it lasts.
