Hi everyone, I am new to the site, I found this site after my daughter (16) was recently diagnosed with BPD. I am here to, hopefully, find ways to better help her and help our family during this extremely difficult time. I grew up with a (severe) BPD father. Of course, it was not something that was diagnosed back then - not that he would have ever seen a doctor anyway. Our lives in that household were a living hell, but I learned a lot and the only good thing that came out of that experience was a better understanding when it comes to raising my BPD daughter. Again, I'm just here for support, ideas, and to offer support in any way, if possible. Thanks!

Welcome Winterstorms - I've only been here a couple of weeks myself. Being able to communicate with others dealing with BPD helps me. It will help you too.

I agree with you that BPD likely runs in families. My mother probably had BPD, my brother was officially diagnosed with BPD in the middle 1980's, and my wife suffers with all the symptoms of BPD but not diagnosed.

Our 21 year old daughter was diagnosed with BPD when she was around 18. I wish we had caught it earlier because myself, wife and our daughter went through a lot, as well as our other two younger children.

What are your daughter's current symptoms? I'm familiar with them all.
