I just read this article, I haven't seen the film yet:

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/sanity-over-success/201805/dangerous-son-why-we-shared-our-story

It sounds like something a lot of us can relate to, even if our children aren't violent. It discusses the extreme difficulty in finding help for both mentally ill kids and the struggles their parents face. Its purpose is to help destigmatize mental illness and open a national conversation about treatment (in the US).

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Hi Hyacinth Bucket
Thank you for recommending this.  I watched the film this morning and it was definitely worthwhile.   It is especially good for those of us (usually but not always mothers) who blame ourselves or think we did something wrong to cause our children's problems.   Although intellectually, I know it is not technically my fault I, like so many parents on this forum can't stop feeling guilt.  Scout206
