Thanks, Enabler.

As you know first hand, many religious people do not have said integrity hence they forge their own path in religion bending a moulding the biblical directions to suit their actions rather than shaping their actions to mould that of biblical direction.

I appreciate this insight. I think I’ll be able to spot this with more accuracy now. At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter anymore. I know enough now. Everything is individual. It’s also co-opted as being responsible for our society. I hope that all makes sense. Yes, many people will take institutions and mold them around themselves instead of learning and evolving. Part of the facade or imagined self.

Thanks for the links.

S4’s mom isn’t a believer. In fact, I remember going to a wedding with her. When it was time for prayer, her and her sister basically made fun of anyone bowing their heads. She blamed God when her uncle died saying “now I know there is no God because a real God would’nt let him die.” She blamed something that she doesn’t believe in. I’m getting off track here.

I know that there is something out there. The Universe, just our’s, is so vast. God is real. There is so much more beyond what our telescopes and satellites have found. It’s endless.

I keep forgetting to pray when I lay down, but the Serenity Prayer stays with me. Thanks, man.

JNChell,

I just want to add another dimension to this discussion about faith.  There are some mental health professionals who link trauma, mental illness and spirituality.  I am a big fan of Gabor Mate who writes about trauma and addiction, adhd and somatic illness. He says that mental health crisis like depression and psychosis caused by trauma are also spiritual in nature and that connection with something bigger than ourselves is essential to healing.
