My granddaughter came to live with us 3 years ago.  She is currently living independently  After a few hospitalizations for suicidal ideation and last hospitalization for an attempt, she was diagnosed with BPD.  I am trying to find balance between being supportive and setting boundaries
Her parents live in other states and are minimally involved. Gd hasn’t been able to keep employment, and therefore not able to support herself and no follow through in applying for government programs. I do not want her to move back in with us but cannot afford to pay for separate housing for her. I have reached out to social service agencies and have found little support as she is an adult and can determine her own destiny.

Hi granna,
How are you doing?  I am worried about you.
Can you give us a rough idea of her age?

I'm sorry you are going through this.

Hello Granna,

This is such a painful position to be in. I'm wondering if your local NAMI leader might refer you to options. Our local NAMI was of great help and comfort, with our son - including introducing us to a support group. (www.nami.org  -  you'd go to "Support")  Have you spoken with a social worker? If so, any ideas from them?
