The counselor for my dd15 believes that she may benefit from a longer term RTC center.

She was released from a 5 week residential DBT program in January. While she was there, she seemed to flourish and become much more stable. We had high hopes as she was speaking the language and said that she really liked the specific skills were very usable and have her a sense of power. The commitment to treatment lasted less than a week once she was home.

She sees a therapist twice weekly. She is not solely a DBT therapist, but is the only one we could find in our area who knows enough to incorporate it into her sessions. She gives my daughter worksheets and activities to help her with specially DBT skills, but dd15 refuses to do them. She has admitted to the counselor that she uses none of her skills and just does what she needs to do to get through the day. Of course this includes cutting, screaming, and suicidal ideation. She is also noncompliant with her meds.

So we are now searching for a longer term RTC center in the case it becomes necessary. We live in Michigan and I am having a very hard time finding anything. Even in the surrounding states. Does anyone have any experience with a facility anywhere near here? I am only seeing places on the east coast or far to the west.

Hi busymind,

Please consider this:

Find the best facility while considering locations... .not the other way around.
