My sky lantern for you on this board

My best wishes for new year goes to all of you, the BPD family. You mean a lot to me.
And for all of you on the Leaving board I sended today a sky lantern in the air. A sky lantern is a airborne paper lantern. It was my first today.
I had this half meter paper bag in my hand and I inflamed the little square who is like a candle to bring hot air in the paper bag to make him bulky. I waited, nothing, seconds and seconds. I was sure this wouldn't work. I was sure the paper would burn before. Than it go little bulkier, I try to put the lantern in the air. It was sinking. I could catch it. Again waiting. I could hold it above my had.
And than it went very fast: The lantern get inflated very fast and I could let go, and rising, rising ... . in the sky. Until it was a tiny little yellow point, like a star. With all my best wishes for you.
May life becomes for you like the lantern. First we have to ignite it carefully, we have to be patient. And than it gets bigger and bigger, filled with energy and we can fly fly fly... .

The sky lanterns are an awesome sight! That is a very special moment, indeed!
I envision 2013 to be filled with great energy, Surnia!

I used a Sky lantern about a year ago.
I told it my memories that i needed to say goodbye to.
Lit it and watched it and those memories float away.
Ok the memories didnt float away as such but the therapeutic side of it was very much needed by myself and helped me with the 'letting go' process.
I understand about the lanterns, they do take a good couple of minute maybe to get the heat into the lanten itself before it floats off. But when they do float off it is just sureen, almost a spiritual moment with ones self.
