Hi - I'm looking for stories of hope re overcoming BPD. I love Tami Green's website (she is a recovered BPD). However she seems to have disappeared recently - ie her book is no longer available etc. Does anyone know what's happened to her?

Hi! I'm looking for good news stories about BPD! Do any partners of BPD's have ones they'd like to share? Has DBT worked for anyone? Has anyone managed to improve their relationship - or become happier. And if so, what helps? There are so many terrible negative stories on here, it's hard to remain hopeful.

  Always hope

and welcome here on board.

Can you tell us little bit more what brought you here?

Who in your family is affected by BPD?

Yes, sometimes it is hard to see so many members here struggling with pain and losses.

There are positive things too. Success Stories.

Please tell us more!

Hi! I'm 42 and have a mother that may have BPD. After battling with the ups and downs for years, I've done some research and it now seems this is likely (she is high functioning but my dad is a wreck and continuously walking on egg shells. She won't admit to having a problem and blames him for everything. She is always annoyed with someone and her anger and hurt last for weeks - or longer). But I'm worried I have some traits too. I'm very sensitive, get stressed very easily, can be moody and hard on myself. I'm pretty good with friendships though - have lots of close friends. However, do have some work to do on close relationships. I had ever heard of BPD until a few days ago. So I'm both worried about having it - and what next steps to take... .  in regards to my mother who is so angry and making my father so unhappy.

Well I'd say there's definitely hope (both from personal experience and from that of several other pwBPD I know, plus the statistics). That is especially true if you're talking about helping yourself (via therapy, DBT, CBT, self help of various kinds, etc' but if you're talking about helping or *fixing* your mom and dad… that's kind of a different ball game… healing is something an individual can only do for him/her self and it has to come from her own will and by her own effort. If she's in therapy, self aware and willing to make changes in herself… the most you can do is be supportive… if she's not then for the most part the most you can do is just learn how to deal with her (this site is loaded with advice on how to do that). As for your own potential BPD traits – there are loads and loads of sites and articles and support groups all over the internet for that… just be sure to look for the certifiable information because unfortunately a lot of it is unprofessional to say the least.
