Cognitive function and BPD

My DBPD ex wife cut her finger by accident and had to go to the hospital for stiches.  A friend accompanied her, and this friend's husband brought his wife an IPAD to help her pass the time.  My ex wife related the story to me and told me that she had said, "Scott would never do something like that for me!"  I believe that there has to be some kind of cognitive impairment with BPD that allows pwBPD to ignore facts.  For example, I went to court in my ex wife's place when she was caught shoplifting, wore long sleeves in hot weather to cover up her bite marks on my arm, tenderly attended to her self-injuries and other physical complaints, etc. etc.  How is it possible for her to not remember these things?  There must be some kind of powerful selective memory at work in BPD.  Does anyone know about cognitive development and BPD?

They have memory issues and also issues with splitting. If she is seeing you as bad today, she wont be able to remember the good stuff. They cant hold both good and bad thoughts about objects at the same time. If youve been devalued she wont remember those good things.
