Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Has your SD gone in for her testing yet (1-5 hours)?

Have you gotten rating scales yet?

Have teachers completed and returned their scales?

Follow up appt after testing?

After follow up I would suspect a week or more-- so the total process at least a month.

Now... . I did have the neuropsych on speed dial when I was fighting the schools for SS15 and so he could produce a report or letter within 24 hours after the initial testing was done. He has gone to a few school meetings, been phoned in for others... .  listened to me and explained more to me than any other T in the mix.

Despite my kvetching in the other post-- I really like my sons' neuropsych. He's the one who got us the behavior Therapists and referred us to a psychiatrist who has also turned out to be very good... . even if he is misinformed on BPD I forgive him because it's really not his area of expertise.

My sd9 went for her testing today, yep, 5 hours. We go back in three weeks for the result. We have waited this long so three weeks is not that bad.

Of course, please let us know. I know, I love getting all these results in black and white... .  so validating.

After the meeting you still may have to wait a week to have a written report so listen closely and be sure to give your input. That is how my Neuropsych works. He talks with the parents and lets them know what is going on, what therapies you need in school and out... .  and then writes the report with recommendations.

I was thinking about your situation with a young kid like me.

The best thing we've had, besides the meds, is the Behavior Therapy component of this with the Therapist coming into the home once a week.

I don't know if your SD will or will not end up on the spectrum (which my insurance now requires for the in home BT) but just having an outsider come in and analyze and work with you on how to target problem behaviors and then work with your SD might give you some immediate relief.

I would look into different therapies available for your SD at her age. My guess is there is little offered other than conventional talk therapy. There are other things like equine therapy... .  but I am fairly certain that she would not be able to get anything derivative of DBT unless she was hospitalized or in RTC.

I hope this makes sense.   Having just been through it this week... .  I just want to pass on my knowledge.
