Hi all,

I have been apart from my ex for going on 3 years. More info about my relationship here: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=279518.0

I have seen 3 counsellors and 1 hynotherepist but i am still not recovered. I only discovered the concept of BPS a month ago and would say that's been my biggest help. It's taken away the confusion that plagued my mind for years.

Anyway, my current counsellor has mentioned PTSD to me and the possibility that CBT might be helpful.

I just wondered if anyone would recommend a particular type of therepy?

Hey soar-

Learning about the disorder and reading and posting here a lot will help, because #1 you'll see you're not alone, and #2 it wasn't all you, in fact it wasn't even mostly you.

CBT is very good, for anyone, and here's a recipe that worked and works for me as well:

Eat a healthy diet

Get enough sleep, and if you can't sleep at least rest

Drink a lot of water

Go light on the booze and caffeine

Get some exercise every day, but not too much

Do what you need to do to lower the stress level in your life

Meditate

Go out in nature somewhere and let it heal you

Surround yourself with people who love you, or at least care about you and treat you with respect

And start developing a vision for your bright future, have faith that you can create whatever you set your mind to, and then put one foot in front of the other towards that future, one day at a time.  Take care of you!
