I was able to find a thread about Meehl House (Foundation) posted in 2012.  I was wondering if anyone had a more recent experience or anything to add about their experience while there.  I've been entertaining the idea of my daughter going and I wanted to get feedback.  Thanks!

Yes, that is the thread I saw!

It seems to me that the consensus is about 50/50.  A couple people say it saved their lives and a couple of people say it's a scam.  I realize that everyone has a different perception of the same situation, but the differences in opinion is a different as night and day.  The one thing that stands out is that what is advertised may not be what I would be expecting and it seems as though the staff's credentials may be glorified.

lbjnltx, what are your thoughts?  What are you hearing?

Not hearing much of anything.

The reviews are mixed for sure... .

When I read them I looked for clues as to what are emotional responses and what are more balanced responses.

It's obvious who learned skills while at the treatment center and who did not.

As I would advise anyone... .go see for yourself first... .ask to speak with the girls there (maybe sit with them at lunch) and get their feedback.  Take a tour, examine the program... .see their art projects, ask them about nutritional guidance, etc... .

Take into account the aspects of the program that are most important.

For example, at Sunrise RTC they were very proud that some of their students were working at Walgreens across the street for minimum wage.  While I see value in having the responsibility of a job I wasn't going to pay $7,500 a month for my daughter to be earning minimum wage at a part time job.
