Hi all.  I am in a tumultuous marriage!  Divorce is threatened at every turn, and I am at the point where I myself will go file - to be free.  I don't know if my H has BPD, but in researching, I feel he does.  He is also an addict.  How do you manage all of the emotional trauma caused by their lying/cheating/manipulating/blaming, etc?

Hi hopeandgrace,

Welcome

Certainly sounds like you're having a difficult time... .we're sorry to hear that.  You ask if your H is BPD, and we cannot obviously answer that as a professional would need to give a diagnosis.  However it seems to you there may be some obvious traits that are common with BPD... .and we have to face those traits in our maneuvering and communications within our relationships.  What types of difficulties do you find yourself facing on a regular basis?  Dealing with these types of traits can be very draining on a day to day basis.  Have you sought out a therapist for yourself to help guide you?  Many here including myself have found that to be a great avenue for guidance and support.
When you have a few calm minutes, take a look in the upper right hand margin of this page, there are some tools and lessons that can help you along the way.  One thing many of us have come to understand is we cannot change them, but we can change how we react to and communicate with them.  These tools and lessons are designed to help us do just that.
We are here.
